The Tillett P1 kart rib protector works by effectively transferring load points, in a crash, from the lower floating ribs to the stronger upper ribs. This minimilises the risk of rib injuries. The P1 uses a special foam which allows the protector to be thinner so as not to disrupt seat sizing and the smooth suede outer has been designed to prevent wear to race suits.
